About Me

Hello! I am so happy that you found my online journal.

My name is Nikole Sarvay - wife and partner to John and mama to our sweet girl, Thea. We live in Richmond, Virginia (USA).

Before becoming a mother, I worked in the social work field, mostly as an advocate for people who have experienced sexual or intimate partner violence. At the end of 2006, I left my full-time job and launched a small business selling my handcrafted jewelry. I loved this work, but during my pregnancy with Thea, I put growing my business on hold. For now, I am taking an extended maternity leave and trying to enjoy every moment that I possibly can of my daughter's first years.

For years, I have wanted to learn to sew, and after my daughter was born, I finally took the steps to make it happen. I have fallen in love with this craft, and now, most of my creative time is spent at the sewing machine.

If you'd like to know a little more about me, please feel free to explore my past writing. Before conceiving Thea, I experienced five miscarriages, which I wrote about here. I have also written (somewhat sporadically) about my first two years of motherhood here.
